| Janet originally trained as a linguist returning to the UK in the early 80's after eight years on the continent. An interim job with a wine wholesaler resulted in a new career as Promotions manager with Grants of St James'. During her seven years with GSJ, she sat and passed all of the WSETs qualifications, gaining the WSET Diploma with honours in 1992 and also winning the Wine Trade Club Scholarship. Having joined the WSET in 1994, she now heads up the Awards Team. | |
Janet has gained a reputation as the Trust's "dangerous sports enthusiast", having tried her hand at hang gliding, formula one motor racing, windsurfing, go-karting and ice hockey to name a few. Despite a growing catalogue of injuries, she is still a fanatical skier and snowboarder, a PADI qualified scuba diver and has recently gained a RYA dinghy sailing qualification. She also enjoys hiking in the mountains, cycling and the more sedate skills associated with dressmaking and other craft activities.

| WSET qualifications are part of the UK qualifications framework, and the education courses leading to WSET qualifications are an invaluable source of information for students to enhance their knowledge of wines and spirits. WSET qualifications are not a guarantee of employment or career progression, nor do they form part of any regulated qualifications framework outside UK.
