David Way DipWSET - Senior Researcher - Wine, WSET
David Way initially specialised in the wines of the Tuscan Maremma before broadening his interests to the rest of Italy and beyond. His articles are published on his website, winefriend.org. David works as Senior Researcher for the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines textbooks.
In 2023, he published The Wines of Piemonte (Classic Wine Library), which provides detailed coverage of all 60 denominations and native grape varieties in the region, including Barolo and Barbaresco. It also explores the history and state of sparkling wine production. The book includes 200 producer profiles and was awarded by the OIV in 2024 at their Lisbon ceremony.
