With its high altitude vineyards and deep limestone soils imparting character and individual flavour to its wines, Jumilla boasts a unique terroir with diverse microclimates and landscapes. Carolina Martínez Origone will take us through a brief history of the region, explore the unique soil types, organic heritage viticulture and the evolution of production.

Carolina Martínez Origone - General Secretary, Jumilla PDO Regulatory Council
Born in Madrid, Carolina is an agricultural engineer, graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and holds a Master of Science in agrifood marketing from the International Centre for Advanced Agronomic Mediterranean Studies of Zaragoza.
She has experience in agrifood research studies and her main expertise is related to geographical indications (GGII). She has held positions in the European Commission, in DG Agri dealing with international relations regarding GGII, and in the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture dealing with wine GGII.
Since 2017 she is the manager and general secretary of the Jumilla PDO Regulatory Council. Ever since she has worked with the aim of modernizing this historic wine region, with a firm belief in the potential of its wines and the distinctive features of the land.
