With four separate sessions spotlighting our four qualification categories (wine, beer, spirits and sake), you can sign-up to explore the different study options available and find out which one is right for you and/or your team. Alex De Cata - Senior APP Development Manager, WSET
Alex is the Senior APP Development Manager for WSET, overseeing India and key EMEA regions including the UK, Switzerland, Africa, and the Indian Ocean. He joined WSET in 2016 and is a certified educator for wine. Alex holds the Level 4 Diploma in Wine, Level 3 Award in Sake, Level 2 Award in Spirits, and Level 2 Award in Beer. Before joining WSET, Alex worked extensively with languages as an educator, translator, and interpreter. He also spent several years in business development within the alcohol and beverage retail sector, where he gained a wealth of experience in hospitality and retail.
Mirella Amato - Senior Business Development Manager - Beer, WSET
Mirella Amato is a craft beer and sensory consultant based in Toronto, ON and is currently working with WSET as a senior business development manager. She has dedicated herself to supporting the growth of craft beer by promoting a better understanding of beer and its many qualities since 2007 and has designed several programs focusing on both craft beer essentials and sensory-specific content for breweries in Canada, the US and Europe. Mirella is a Doemens Biersommelier, one of 20 Master Cicerones® in the world and a judge for major beer competitions internationally. She is the author of the award-winning book: Beerology: Everything you Need to Know to Enjoy Beer Even More and creator of the new online course Mastering Beer and Food Pairing brought to you by Beerology®.
Mirella Amato has achieved the rank of Grandmaster with the Beer Judge Certification Program—an accolade held by only 76 individuals worldwide! She is the first Canadian and the only person ever to hold both the Grandmaster and Master Cicerone titles. This distinction recognises not just her academic expertise but her dedication and service to the global beer community.
Charlie McCarthy - Business Development Manager - Spirits, WSET
Charlie joined WSET in 2019, having worked for many years as a consultant to spirit brands and high-end venues. Charlie learned his craft behind some of London’s best cocktail bars, going on to develop a specialism in event bartending, which lead to brand advocacy projects with William Grant & Sons and Bacardi. Charlie has a wealth of experience delivering WSET masterclasses from Berlin to Singapore, training bar teams for Doyle Collection Hotels in London and Washington DC and designing cocktail menus for World Duty Free, Tullamore DEW & Marriott properties for the Gorgeous Group. Charlie is qualified to deliver WSET spirits qualifications up to the Level 3 Award in Spirits.
Natsuki Kikuya - Senior Researcher - Sake, WSET
Natsuki's sake journey began in 2009 when she worked in Tokyo's sake retail shop, Hasegawa Saketen, then later as a Sake Sommelier at Zuma & Roka restaurants in London. In 2013, she launched Museum of Sake, an agency that provides education and promotes sake.
In 2014, together with WSET's Antony Moss MW, Natsuki developed and launched the WSET Level 3 Award in Sake, which she now teaches for us at WSET School London.
In 2015, she was honoured to receive the title of 'Sake Samurai' from the Japanese government for her services to its national drink.
