Benjamin McVeigh-Whitaker DipWSET
Wine Educator
Ben started working in the wine trade in 2009 after university. A career in wine was never the plan, but it quickly became clear that it’s an incredible industry with countless inspiring people and opportunities. He decided that this was the path for him and quickly progressed through the WSET qualifications, completing the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines in 2014.
After various roles in wine shops and a stint as Head Sommelier at a fancy London restaurant, the majority of Ben's career to date has been as a wine distributor in London. It was here that he developed a passion for teaching, and completed WSET's Certified Educator Training Programme, delivering training and WSET courses for restaurant and hotel groups. It was a fun, challenging and varied role combing sales account management with training and teaching – it meant no day was ever the same!
In 2019, Ben opened the wine bar and restaurant Peckham Cellars with two great friends. They were awarded a BIB Gourmand by The Michelin Guide in 2021 which was a very proud moment.
Ben currently teaches the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines at WSET School London.
"I’m always motivated to communicate the beauty of this wonderful world of wine."
