Wine webinar
Greece's vineyards are undeniably the oldest in Europe, having been in continuous use for six millenia. While you may not be as familiar with Greece's wines as you are with those of some other European countries, the influence of its vast wine heritage and culture can be seen in everything from wine classifications to winemaking technology, exportation, education, service and food pairing.
In this webinar, Greek wine expert Maria Moutsou of invites you on a virtual journey through today's Greek vineyards, travelling from the smallest PDO region in the North West to the largest in the mainland South, and reaching further out to the celebrated island of Santorini.
During this webinar, Maria will taste three different styles of wine, all sharing PDO status:
- Domaine Glinavos Debina: a sparkling wine from a rare grape variety
- Gavalas Nykteri: a complex and highly regarded Santorinian white, made by perhaps the most famous of Greek grapes, Assyrtiko
- Papaioannou Ktima Red: a red Nemea, made from Greece's most cultivated red grape, Agiorgitiko
There is no obligation for you to source these wines to enjoy the webinar, but if you would like to buy them for yourself, you can order a bundle of all three bottles from Kudos Wines here (UK only). Feel free to join in with a glass of your choice, even better if it's Greek!
If you enjoy the webinar, we would love to welcome you onto one of our WSET wine courses, all of which can be studied online from your home. More details here.
