Go back to school this summer and explore wine through the subjects you studied at school, starting with English literature.

Event details

Never judge a wine by its label or a book by its cover.

Many of literature's great were fuelled by wine and quite a few made mention of it in their works. In our first edition of the summer school series, hosted by Anjali Douglas DipWSET, you'll discover the wine that fueled Maya Angelou's poetry, examine how Roald Dahl's wine geekery bled into his work, and sample Vin de Constance, a wine celebrated by the likes of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

This is part of our fun and beginner-friendly summer school series, exploring wine alongside a different subject each week. This first session will look at wine and English literature.

You'll get to taste some premium wines, all with fascinating stories that will bring the subjects to life.

At the end of each session guests can take part in a quiz to test their knowledge. Will you pass with flying colours? (Remember, no prior knowledge is needed!)

Buy a series ticket to save £20 and receive a WSET School London notebook and pen on your first day at school!

About the presenter, Anjali Douglas DipWSET

Anjali Douglas WSET School London educator

Anjali worked in hospitality while studying her A-Levels, never intending to make a career out of it. She then started working in education for museums and galleries, producing events and festivals to attract diverse audiences. She caught the wine bug five years ago and returned to hospitality, starting her new career in a wine bar, before moving on to become responsible for training hospitality staff and sommeliers for a wine distributor. Now, she teaches Levels 1-2 at WSET School London. No matter what industry she is in, Anjali’s aim is to open up conventionally elitist institutions, art forms, and beverages, to more.
