Join wine educator Richard Lane DipWSET and Italian food and wine expert and journalist Luisa Welch DipWSET for a festive tasting that will open your senses to the fabulous world of Italian amari.

Event details

Evenings

Explore the significant role of amari bitters that lie behind many Italian aperitivi and digestivi – drinks designed to prepare the stomach for a festive feast and later helping to round off a meal in style.

Amari (Italian for bitters) come in many guises, where a wide variety of herbs and spices are extracted after infusion with alcohol. And, with Italy being Italy, there are many regional variations and cultural connections concerning amari across this diverse gastronomic country, a few of which will be explored in this tasting.

Richard and Luisa will show you how these amari can be enjoyed as a long refreshing drink before a meal, or as a more intense sipper, perfect to finish off an evening.

A selection of Italian light bites will accompany the evening, which will also include two classic Italian wines that would complement any fine and festive dinner table.
