Kicking off the first in our new "meet the winemaker" series, this is a rare opportunity to taste six wines and hear from Sarah Pidgeon, Winemaker at Coonawarra's pre-eminent winery, Wynns.
Event details
With famous terra rossa soil that runs along a narrow 20km ridge, Coonawarra is a jewel of a wine region – and one of the most remote in Australia.
Wynns Coonawarra Estate is the region's pre-eminent producer and has the longest established vineyards in the region.
At this intimate event, Winemaker Sarah Pidgeon will present six of her wines, including the latest release of Wynns' prestige wine 'John Riddoch' Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a one-time-only chance to taste and discuss these bottles, with a legend of Australian wine.

About the presenter, Sarah Pidgeon
In 1998 Sarah was appointed winemaker at the renowned Wynns Coonawarra Estate winery. Here she feels privileged to continue the tradition of excellence and innovation, working with fruit from some of Australia’s top vineyards on the internationally famed terra rossa soil.
A love of well cellared, mature wines has been cultivated through her custodianship of the precious Wynns museum wines. An intense knowledge of the terroir of Coonawarra vineyards, and great skill with coaxing the best from old vine Cabernets are among her constant rewards.
Career highlights include involvement in the 60 vintages of Wynns Cabernet tasting, the development of the Wynns V&A Lane wines, and deepening the knowledge of Coonawarra’s significant single sites through the Wynns single vineyard wines. As well as several opportunities to be a guest wine columnist, Sarah co-authored a history of Wynns vineyards entitled ‘Out of the Blocks’.
