Discover the dramatic landscape of Conegliano Valdobbiadene with Anjali Douglas DipWSET and taste the top wines of Prosecco Superiore DOCG along the way.

Event details

In the last 15 years, brand "Prosecco" has become synonymous with fun and affordable wines that are ready to satisfy the needs of birthday parties and bottomless brunches across the UK. What can get forgotten is that there two small enclaves near Venice where producers painstakingly work some of the steepest vineyard slopes in Europe to produce showstopping sparkling wines. This is Conegliano Valdobbiadene.

Join Anjali Douglas DipWSET, newly returned from a research trip to the area, to uncover the outstanding wines from Conegliano Valdobbiadene. You will taste the subtle differences in different "Rive", sample the sought-after Cartizze, and try some wines made by sui leiviti, a traditional style being reignited by young producers in the region.

Taste the wine alongside some Venetian cheese and charcuterie, and get some tips on visiting this newly minted UNESCO World Heritage site. An opportunity to take this fun fizz seriously and taste some incredible wines.

About the presenter, Anjali Douglas DipWSET

Anjali Douglas WSET School London educator

Anjali worked in hospitality while studying her A-Levels, never intending to make a career out of it. She then started working in education for museums and galleries, producing events and festivals to attract diverse audiences. She caught the wine bug five years ago and returned to hospitality, starting her new career in a wine bar, before moving on to become responsible for training hospitality staff and sommeliers for a wine distributor. Now, she teaches Levels 1-3 at WSET School London. No matter what industry she is in, Anjali’s aim is to open up conventionally elitist institutions, art forms, and beverages, to more.
