Join us on a journey from the clear waters of the Étang de Thau to the Medieval ramparts of Carcassone as we explore the wines of the Languedoc over two tastings.

Event details

Join Richard Lane DipWSET and Sam Povey DipWSET - two wine educators who have an abiding love of all things Occitan -for a tour of France's oldest, largest and most underestimated wine region.

Richard will kick off the first tasting in the eastern Languedoc, touring through beach-fringed Picpoul de Pinet, across a vast coastal plain, and up into the foothills of the Massif Central where some of the region's finest wine is produced.

The following week, Sam will take you across windswept Corbieres into the rugged hills of Cathar country where the rivers begin to flow away toward the Atlantic, tasting some of the region's most delicate styles including history's very first sparkling wine.

Book both together via this page and save £10, or join one of the individual sessions below.

Tasting level

Intermediate: An in-depth exploration of a particular topic. Some prior knowledge is beneficial – such as a WSET Level 2 qualification – but these sessions will be enjoyable and educational for anyone with an interest in the subject.

About Richard Lane DipWSET

Richard Lane DipWSET

Richard completed the Level 4 Diploma in Wines in 2021. He took on the course after spending a year in South West France, where he discovered his passion for wine. A few months later he started teaching at WSET School London, becoming the first blind person to qualify as a WSET educator. His specialisms are South West France and the Languedoc. Read our Q&A with Richard.

About Sam Povey DipWSET

Sam Povey

Sam Povey DipWSET is a wine educator from Aberdeen, Scotland. He first discovered his interest in wine at university and pursued it by travelling to Georgia and his local wine shop. Before joining the industry, he was an economics tutor but fell into wine when he took a job behind the bar at an urban winery. He then moved into wine and food retail in north London: managing wine lists, hosting tastings and training staff. Today, he teaches the WSET Levels 1-2 Awards in Wines and hosts events at WSET School London. Read our Q&A with Sam.
