Event details
Evenings
Switzerland is a lesser-known wine-producing country for the simple reason that virtually all the wine it produces is consumed in the country, which leaves little for the rest of the world.
At around the same size as the vineyards of Alsace, the country is a treasure trove of indigenous grape varieties, many of them found only in Switzerland, growing alongside more familiar international varieties.
The unique Alpine terroir has been shaped over thousands of years by the receding glaciers and its wide diversity of climates is heavily influenced by countless rivers, lakes and mountains.
At this unique tasting, Simon Hardy DipWSET will guide you through Switzerland’s six wine regions and its local grape varieties. You'll sample eight distinctive wines including Chasselas and Petite Arvine whites, Cornalin and Humagne Rouge reds, and some world-class Pinot Noir and Merlot.
You'll also get the chance to taste a selection of fine Swiss cheeses from Mons Cheesemongers in Borough Market.
Please note: this is the same event that was run in February 2023, though the selection of wines will be different.
