Iris Fabre DipWSET takes you on a tasting journey through the most extreme vineyards in the world, where both growers and grapes defy nature’s challenges to produce exceptional and resilient wines.

Event details

Making wine is hard work. Between caring for the land, being at the mercy of nature and juggling the vineyard, the cellar and the office, there’s plenty to do. But some producers push the challenge further, by cultivating vines in incredibly difficult terrains – steep slopes, small islands, and extreme altitudes – creating what we call 'heroic wines'.

While the term 'heroic viticulture' is widely recognised in Italy and formally defined by the European association CERVIM, it applies to wines from around the globe.

This tasting offers a rare chance to dive deep into the passion, history, and tradition behind these exceptional wines.

Alongside them, you’ll enjoy a selection of cheeses from La Fromagerie, each with its own heroic story too.

Example wine list

  1. Possa, Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy
  2. Suertes del Marques, Trenzado, Canary Islands, Spain
  3. Domaine du Monteillet, Stéphane Montez, Condrieu, Rhône Valley, France
  4. Domaine Jean-René Germanier, Amigne de Vétroz, Valais, Switzerland
  5. Arpepe, Sassella Stella Retica, Valtellina, Italy
  6. Adegas Guimaro Camiño Real, Ribeira Sacra, Spain
  7. Bargylus, Jabal de Bargylus, Latakia, Syria
  8. Domaine de Valcros Banyuls Rimage, Roussillon, France

Tasting level

Intermediate: An in-depth exploration of a particular topic. Some prior knowledge is beneficial – such as a WSET Level 2 qualification – but these sessions will be enjoyable and educational for anyone with an interest in the subject.
