Taste your way through eight cool climate wines as you discover the wines of Luxembourg with Jess van der Schee DipWSET.
Event details
Luxembourg is a small but vibrant winegrowing country with 1295 hectares of vines that are planted along a 42km stretch of the Mosel River, just across the river from Germany. Within this small winegrowing route exists huge diversity of aspects and soils, from the shell-bearing limestone (Muschelkalk) in the North and calcareous clay in the South.
With a latitude of 49 degrees North, Luxembourg is a prime example of cool climate production, with 90% of grapes planted being white varieties. Crémant de Luxembourg – traditional method sparkling wine – represents 25% of production. Due to the cool climate location and humidity pressure, Luxembourg wineries are also experimenting with PIWI varieties – grapes specifically bread for resistance to fungal diseases.
Join Luxembourg native and Wine Educator Jess van der Schee DipWSET for a tasting of a diverse range of wines, from classics like sparkling Crémant and Riesling, to innovative PIWI wines showcasing the diversity of Luxembourg wine production.
