Join us on a journey from the clear waters of the Côte d'Azur to the rugged back country hills of the Roussillon, as we explore the wines of the South of France. Along the way we'll sample delicate fizz, meaty reds, textured whites, mouth-watering rosé and some unusual fortified wines.
Event details
Join Richard Lane DipWSET and Sam Povey – two wine educators who have an abiding love of all things sud de France – as they explore the Languedoc, Roussillon and Provence.
France's first vines were planted on its Mediterranean coast and, while it doesn't enjoy the prominence of other regions, it is home to many vinous treasures.
Over four evenings, you will sample bottles from some of France's youngest winemakers working in the country's original wine region. There will be plenty of Syrah and Grenache alongside an assortment of varieties rarely seen outside the south of France like Carignan, Piquepoul and Mourvèdre.
We'll also be providing a selection of snacks to enjoy alongside the wines.

Meet the speakers
Richard Lane DipWSET completed the Level 4 Diploma in Wines in 2021. He took on the course after spending a year in South West France, where he discovered his passion for wine. A few months later he started teaching at WSET School London, becoming the first blind person to qualify as a WSET educator. His specialisms are South West France and the Languedoc. Read our Q&A with Richard.
Sam Povey is a wine educator from Aberdeen, Scotland. He first discovered his interest in wine at university and pursued it by travelling to Georgia and his local wine shop. Before joining the industry, he was an economics tutor but fell into wine when he took a job behind the bar at an urban winery. He then moved into wine and food retail in north London: managing wine lists, hosting tastings and training staff. Today, he teaches the WSET Levels 1-2 Awards in Wines and hosts events at WSET School London. Read our Q&A with Sam.
