American Wine School (AWS) has been authorised by WSET Awards to become the first wine school in the mid-west USA to offer the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines and Spirits.
AWS is the second new WSET Diploma Centre in the USA to be confirmed this academic year, following Napa Valley Wine Academy which launched its first WSET Diploma course in California in October 2017. There are now a total of nine WSET Diploma Centres in the USA and 32 worldwide that nurture over 400 candidates each year to successfully achieve the WSET’s highest qualification.
Marianne Frantz DipWSET, owner of American Wine School says:
The central US has more than a 120 million people, approximately 40% of the entire country’s population. The interest in wine and wine certification around the country is stronger than ever both in the trade as well as among laymen. We are thrilled to be the first to offer this course in the mid-west.
WSET Development Manager for the USA, David Wrigley DipWSET, MW, says:
“The approval of the American Wine School as the ninth US WSET Diploma Centre is fantastic news for wine and spirits professionals and enthusiasts in the country. As one of our highest growth markets, seeing a 48% increase in candidates last year, we are working hard to expand the availability of all levels of our globally recognised qualifications in the USA to cater to the demand for education. We are pleased that we are now able to offer our highest accolade to candidates in the mid-west region.”
The AWS offers WSET Level 1 in Wines, WSET Level 2 in Wines and Spirits, and WSET Level 3 in Wines in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Chicago. The first WSET Diploma class will be offered in January 2018 in Chicago.
