WSET has launched a new 3 Minute Spirit School, comprising a series of short videos introducing some of the world’s most popular spirits. The series, produced in association with Difford’s Guide, builds on the success of WSET’s 3 Minute Wine School series, which has amassed over 330,500 views since its launch.

Presented by industry experts, the 3 Minute Spirit School is an entertaining and informative introduction to some of the key spirits of the world. The films are ideal for novice enthusiasts and those entering or working in the spirits or bar/hospitality trade.

The films cover a range of information including production, history, tasting and serving, and have been produced to raise awareness of WSET spirits qualifications: the Level 1 Award in Spirits and the Level 2 Award in Spirits.

Chief Executive Ian Harris said,

Spirits qualifications are a growing part of WSET’s business. This series of videos provides an introduction to spirits that is both entertaining and educational. We hope that through initiatives like these, alongside our qualifications, we will continue to help professionals and enthusiasts alike learn more about the spirits that they work with and love.

The series includes:
Whisky – Richard Paterson, Master Blender, Whyte & Mackay Ltd
Cognac – Joel Harrison, Author of Distilled and WSET Spirits Educator
Rum – Maggie Campbell, Head Distiller and Vice President, Privateer Rum
Gin – Will Lowe, Distiller, The Cambridge Distillery, and WSET Spirits Educator
Vodka – Maria Johanssen, Bartender
Cocktails – Paul Graham, Drinks Consultant

The first three films, Whisky, Cognac and Rum, are now available to view in the Knowledge Centre of the WSET website or YouTube channel. Gin, Vodka and Cocktails will be released over the coming weeks.

Difford’s Guide Founder Simon Difford said, “At Difford’s Guide we aim to inspire and engage discerning drinkers with informative content on spirits and cocktails; so we were delighted to collaborate with WSET, the leaders in wine and spirit education, on this series. The films offer a great introduction to some of the world’s most popular spirits - perfect for anyone starting their journey in this fascinating world.”
