We are happy to announce that we are launching our online Level 2 Award in Spirits course for visitors at this year’s Bar Convent Berlin.

Visitors will be able to trial the online classroom in WSET’s pop-up learning booth under the guidance of the WSET team. After completing a demo, visitors will be given the option to sign on to the course at a special rate. The online Level 2 Award in Spirits is set to run from 18 November to 22 December 2019 with the final exam taking place in January 2020 in Berlin.

WSET is also excited to be the official Education Partner at Bar Convent Berlin for 2019. This year WSET will be hosting 11 sessions in the WSET Taste Forum, designed to showcase its spirits expertise and new suite of dedicated spirits qualifications. Highlights in the WSET Taste Forum programme include:

  • Spirits. Knowing your spirit and mixing it well: two joint sessions with European Bartender School
(EBS), the world’s leading bartending school
  • Rum distillates: rum was last year’s most popular session, so we’ve brought it back this year with a
twist in partnership with Worthy Park Estate
  • Baijiu basics: something completely different – an in-depth look at this fascinating spirit which is little
    known outside China
  • Attract, engage, train and retain: Hear first-hand from cocktail bar chain Be at One about the
business benefits of WSET Spirits qualifications as they talk staff retention and profitability.

All WSET sessions are presented by globally recognised experts in the bar and beverage industry and have been designed to expand attendees’ spirits product knowledge. They also offer an introductory taster to what one might expect from WSET's courses , including the trademark Systematic Approach to Tasting.

Nick King, Spirits Product Development Manager for WSET says:

“Spirits education is becoming increasingly important for WSET so it’s key for us to be working alongside one of the leading international trade shows for the bar and beverage industry. We are keen to demonstrate to visitors the benefits of taking our spirits qualifications and are excited to give visitors the chance to try out our online classroom and sign up to our first ever online Level 2 Award in Spirits in Germany.”

At Bar Convent Berlin, WSET is also happy to introduce its new Business Development Manager (EMEA) specialising in spirits Charlie McCarthy. Charlie is tasked with developing WSET’s spirits business in its EMEA markets. He has forged a path as a consultant to spirit brands and high-end venues globally and has a wealth of experience in the spirits category.
